Party time at Worthing Carnival - 2021

One of the last effects of the Covid lockdown was that our hometown carnival, which is hosted by the Rotary Club, was curtailed this year.

The event had to be reduced in size to fit within Steyne Gardens in Worthing. However, a reduction in size did not mean a reduction in the amount of entertainment, or the amount of food that was available, or the general amount of enjoyment that people had!

We were fortunate enough as a band to be able to drum on the stage on Sunday, which was the first day of the event. As well as being introduced by the town crier and meeting lots and lots of Rotary people, we entertained the crowds for about half an hour. There was a lot of spontaneous dancing from the audience, which got quite a bit bigger during our performance!

O

ur friends at the local paper, the Worthing Herald, have done a great article on the event which can be seen here…

Our old friend, Bob, the Town Crier, was there to let the crowds know about us; our Mestre (bandleader) Barry even managed to get the Town Crier’s bell in time with our beats!

Anyone who knows the band knows that Worthing is our hometown - and I'm sure we will be out again for the good people of Worthing in the not too distant future!

We would like to say a big “thank you” to the Rotarians, and we look forward to a full-blown carnival next year 2022!
