We've been a long time weathering this storm and fighting this plague that attacks our lands; therefore after careful consideration, we have decided that Hastings Pirate Day 2021 will be very different this year. As I’m sure you are all aware, an event of this size costs a mountain of gold and treasures to put on safely, most of which is kindly sponsored by our brethren in the Tavern and Hospitality industry which, given that they have been unable to trade, I am not even going to consider approaching them in these tough times. At Pirate HQ we have decided that in order to keep things safe 2021 will be about giving something back to the much-beleaguered business’s that adorn our shores...
We are pleased to announce The Hastings Pirate Weekend Gallivant! ... A weekend packed with entertainments, side shows and music, throughout our much-loved taverns, attractions and heritage sites all over town! Starting Friday July 16th until Sunday, July 18th (Family day) we aim to deliver a great programme of entertainment for Pirates young and old.
Due to the ever-changing nature and potential further restrictions of the pandemic we are confident that a Pirate weekender can be delivered this way.
However, as the safety of the public and pirate crew is paramount we will not be able to offer the usual mass gathering points, no central stage, no world records ( we still proudly hold one anyway!) and no Pirate parade... all of which I’m sure you will agree would be unwise in the circumstances.
What we will offer is something for everyone, with a few surprises along the way, whilst supporting our local businesses, and raising much-needed funds for our Golden voyage in 2022...
ALL OF THIS IS TOTALLY DEPENDENT ON THE ONGOING COVID SITUATION, GAINING SUFFICIENT FUNDING, AS WELL AS THE AGREEMENT AND SUPPORT OF THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES.
Should circumstances dictate that we are required to cancel or scale the event back further then this will be beyond our control and we will advise accordingly
In the meantime, keep an eye on our Facebook page for updates and news. Please consider giving generously to the crowd funder (launching soon) as this is YOUR event... and it’s YOU that makes it happen! Dust off that fantastic Pirate attire, weigh anchor and look forward to calm seas ahead!
